'Excess, Ex-Ass, XS'
These are a few prototypes for the ‘EXCESS, EX-ASS, XS’ exhibition project, drawn by me in Affinity Designer. The exhibition will consist of 10 to 20 mannequins dressed up in clothes made out of domestic objects of first necessity usually stacked by most people during the lockdown (2020-2022). The exhibition examines concepts like sustainability, consumerism, excess, worship, self-sufficiency, mindfulness, creativity, happiness, satisfaction, etc.
The Bulb Dress
Made out of bulbs, cloth, and wire. It raises an awareness, just by mere association with a bulb lighting up in your brain. It immediately poses a question about sustainability on a very deep, personal level, somewhere in between vanity, and appreciation for beauty.
The Glove Dress
Made out of surgical gloves, cloth and tape. It represents the Covid-19 crisis with its hysterical impact on social relations. It brings up a nostalgic sentiment about past times and simple things (like human touch, social gatherings, etc) we’ve taken for granted.
The Wine Bag Puffer Jacket
Made out of wine bags, cloth and tape. It represents the alcohol consumption rise during the pandemic.
The Cleaning Rag Coat
Made out of cleaning rags and buttons. It represents the shifting of power during a crisis. It playfully switches the places of the cleaning and designer industries. It makes us Imagine a crisis that big, that high fashion designers would need to start taking up cleaner’s jobs.
The Candy Dress
Made out of candy, tea bags and milk packages. It represents junk food - unsustainable, unhealthy, unethical. It will be situated next to the free beverages table, so visitors will be encouraged to pick and consume the pieces.
